i like macrumors but it'd be nice if we could have a delete button for our own posts.,

xpost - Federated forums with a single login system across the web for interacting with multiple forums

draft - why doesn't neowin.net have an edit button

#neowin

I thought neowin could sorta be my way to post stuff instead of on reddit, on a more traditional forum. Without having to worry about karma.

But without an edit button, I'm a little bit weary.

The problem with making a comment on reddit to a thread is that your comment, when good intentioned, can get downvotes. Now, maybe if subreddit admins could limit downvotes to like zero or minus 1, or even remove downvoting altogether, that'd be interesting.

But like, today I made a comment on a thread of chrome extensions. And it was a good extension. I also made a post somewhere. While the post was upvoted a few upvotes, the comment was at zero. Not negative luckily, but it still felt so like "why would this affect my karma in a negative way".

Is there such a thing as federated forums?

#federatedforum

A forum which is like a traditional forum without negative downvotes to affect ones karma. But more of a single login system. Kinda like openID or similar things were supposed to do.

"...The average user on this site is now just the same as the average tiktok...user, and what they consume here is just as shallow and braindead..."

well said. it's kind of upsetting.

i made this post because i googled "why doesn't the reddit website have an account switcher"

https://www.google.com/search?q=why+doesn%27t+the+reddit+website+have+an+account+switcher

i feel like if reddit desktop had an account switcher, that would sort of "fix things" to an extent, or mostly

Lemmy's app Voyager is great! It's so much like Apollo. Not as polished, but it works well. Will be donating.

I'm looking for a Reddit alternative and was looking at Lemmy, the fediverse alternative. I know it's not as popular as mastodon, but was just wondering, what peoples experiences are and how it compares to Reddit. Thanks.
