I just got back from a record fair. I didn’t find any vinyl in a condition I’d accept for my collection (new or near-mint used), but this was my haul. I paid $36 plus a $5 entrance fee—not bad for $41!

I’ll be cataloging everything and will start listening and posting once I’ve identified the exact pressings and completed any sleeving, restoration, or cleaning.

Nick Lowe, Labour of Lust, 1979 on Columbia

Second album released under the Nick Lowe name, recorded with the same personnel from Rockpile and in the same year as Dave Edmunds’ Repeat When Necessary. The US and UK versions have different track list – this is the US version, including “American Squirm” as track A4.

This has “Cruel To Be Kind” which became Lowe’s biggest hit in the US, and was co-written by Lowe and Ian Gromm as part of Brinsley Schwarz.

My copy via Slipped Disc during a record show at Mill No. 5, with the original colored inner sleeve.
