A small video of #RainbowFalls in #WNC today. The flow was pretty thunderous.

I failed completely to give either photos or video a sense of the scale of this fall, which is very large (150') The rocks down on the right have to be 20' tall, and the trees next to the river are adult, and 50-60' tall.

Can't call this calming, but definitely powerful.

An early drive to #GorgesStatePark in Western #NC, and a #hike to #RainbowFalls. Only about a mile and a half out, but about 900ft up, and (at least for the way back) rainy, muddy and slippery.

What a gorgeous, roaring falls it was, too. We've been here before but I have no memory of it from march 2020, right when the pandemic was kicking off.

We saw a big bear while driving in, and found a pavilion with picnic tables for our post-hike breakfast, out of the rain.
