This latest step by Burger King elicited swift condemnation among some social media users who described it as "#dystopian".

Excerpt: "The AI system, called BK Assistant, compiles "friendliness scores" at the fast-food chain's locations based on employees' conversations, according to a promotional video the company shared with the BBC.

"The chain is currently piloting the system at 500 US restaurants, a spokesperson for Burger King said.

"The company says the technology is not designed to 'record conversations or evaluate individual employees'." [Yeah, right, sure...]

When I was growing up and we were being taught about the #GreatDepression, one of the cited causes for why things went so horribly sideways is that large chunks of the economy were significantly #OverLeveraged. Watching videos like this one:

It feels like the spiraling concentration of wealth that's happened just within my lifetime has raised a whole other level of leverage-risk compared to what was at play with the Great Depression. We saw those #risks played out in the (2000-2002) bursting of the DotCom bubble and then the (2008) larger bursting of the real estate bubble (and associated "too big to fail" bailouts for reckless billionaires that wasn't extended to the #proles impacted by their recklessness). You look at both the #fuckery and absolutely ungodly amount of circular-leverage on display with the AI bubble and it really feels like (even without #Trump's attempts to single-handedly break the economy) the coming financial apocalypse is going to be larger than either of the 21st century bubble-bursts combined ...and, quite likely, larger than all of the bubble-bursts/recessions/depressions of the last 100+ years (possibly the largest of any since the founding of the first stock/options market).

But, yeah…

It feels pretty clear that #Trump's/#Project2025's/#Billionaires' goals are to strip the #proles of any last ownerships they might have. Tanking the economy is a great way to force a lot of people with mortgages to default. Offering HELOCs heading into a (deep) #recession is a great way to increase the size of the pool of potential defaulters.

This is, in part, due to dealing with near suicidal constituents, amongst others. It's hard to not have sympathy. Will this show MPs that even the #middleclass are not immune to problems of the #Proles Yes. Will it change anything? Doubtful. The staffers are struggling to get mh supp. Like everyone

I'm dismayed at some of the people on the #left throwing shade at #decentralization as "some #libertarian noise." Like, this is literally people #seizing the #means of mass communication, and these people are opting to side with the #profiteers because apparently it turns out the #proles are actually scary.
The ideal socialist condition would be independent communities self-governing and engaging in mutual aid. How the hell does #Twitter fit that model even *remotely* better than #Mastodon?
