#GoodMorning and #TZAG everyone

Well, getting a new gadget can be fun, but at the moment, I am getting a wee bit frustrated, as I checked certain settings for about 10 times now, and they "should" be good and all, but somehow... It's not working as it should. So I was hoping that maybe the #FediHive mind could help out?

I have a Samsung tablet. I have a BT Samsung keyboard connected to it. With the old Samsung tablet, I had the settings that, if I were using the physical keyboard, the on-screen one would sod off, unless I tapped the screen and then it would come back on again. But I have all the settings as they should be, with the "hide virtual keyboard when using a physical keyboard". I checked the setting in both the Android software and in my SwiftKey software. And that used to work properly with my old tablet. But whatever I set it to now, the SwiftKey keyboard doesn't leave the screen when I am using the physical keyboard and it's driving me nuts. I just want it to leave when I don't need it... Ugh... it's so annoying and I don't know what to do to have the on-screen keyboard just leave when I am using the BT one, like the old tablet just did when you set it to do that... 🤔

So hopefully some smart Fedi folks will know where my error lies and then help me end the "little" frustration over this...

Ah well, I wrote an email to a sweet friend, I wrote my journal toot, and I walked with Bas. Now waiting for a parcel to arrive. And I will have to hassle a bit with the Fedilabs app to get all my beige accounts in it. That's the only downside of having a few accounts on the same instance, it's a bit harder to add them all to the Masto app... But I have done it before, so I can do it again. 😉

When the parcel has been delivered, estimated now between 11:24-12:24, I will walk with Bas again. And then, I have a plan... Relax on the couch and watch some telly. Maybe catch a snooze with little Bas...

Have a lovely day/time folks! And thanks in advance for any help. I will add the "needed" hashtags beneath the Toot for visibility.

I miss my BlackBerry Q10. A lot. It’s still my favorite smartphone I’ve ever used, but I’d take any BlackBerry with a physical keyboard over the offerings available today. I still can’t stand typing on glass. Photo from 2018.

I'm really flustered. My actual #smartphone is a #BlackberryKey2 purchased in 2019. It runs on Android and it has a #physicalkeyboard. This feature, combined with its reasonable dimensions, allows me to do simple things like writing short messages or navigating apps with one hand.
Unfortunately Blackberry stopped producing phones in 2022 and a similar product doesn't exist. UniHertz Titan thickness is the double (1,4 cm vs 0,7 cm), F(x)tec or Astro Slide are very thick too and sold out 😭😭😭

@[email protected] there's also the #Unihertz #Titan #phone at about 340 USD, but that's more of a #Blackberry-like portrait-oriented #keyboardPhone, with a rather limited #keyboard layout, and I would definitely end up missing the ctrl, alt, esc, and super keys.
