Anyone here having keyboard-cleaning experience? Especially storing keycaps so you know which one belongs where later on, but also other methods, such as using compressed air, etc.?
I want to get a bit more independent with my tech hardware stuff, and my keyboard definitely needs a cleaning session, so yeah, any experience is welcome.

Some days you want to solve hard problems, others you just want to do mindless cleaning. Today was the latter.
I completely stripped down & cleaned both the 2002 Pro Keyboard (top) and the 2006 Keyboard. I spent a lot of time on the 2006 one back in the day, and I liked it well enough. I now like the earlier one better; it’s the same Mitsumi rubber dome assembly, but it just feels a tiny bit nicer. It’s also a more interesting design, and required some complex tooling for the lucite pieces. The 2006 one was clearly cheaper to build, and made me remember that most of the time ‘modern’ just means ‘cheaper’

Apparently I didn't bother to collect all the toots about this into a single thread, but my scrappy ESP32-based Bluetooth keyboard is now entirely functional. It still needs a battery and a case that slides out from my phone, but it pairs via Bluetooth, sleeps when unused, and reconnects after sleep or power loss.

Today's compose key sequence is:

<Multi_key> <slash> <h>
will insert ħ

(latin small letter h with stroke)

I’m on the hunt for a new mechanical #keyboard. My current one has Cherry MX Browns, and lately I’ve been noticing a bit more finger fatigue when typing, plus the occasional missed keypress. I’ve always liked the sound of linear switches (never physically tried one though), but I’ve kind of assumed tactile switches are “better” for typing/coding? Also looking specifically for a wireless 75% board if anyone has recommendations.
Alright, I've now written down the entirety of my #keyboard building knowledge.

This is your daily dose of compose key sequences:

<Multi_key> <asciitilde> <asciicircum> <O>
will insert Ỗ

(latin capital letter o with circumflex and tilde)
