🚨 URGENT ALERT — New PayPal Scam Wave Is Spreading 🛡️

Cybercriminals are using highly realistic PayPal-themed scams to steal login credentials, 2FA codes, and even bank information.
These attacks are now appearing via email, SMS, phone calls, AND fake login pages.

The goal?
➡ Create panic.
➡ Make you click fast.
➡ Capture your identity & money.

🔎 What the Scam Looks Like

You may see messages like:

“Your account has been limited — verify now”
“Suspicious transaction detected — view invoice”
“Refund pending — login to confirm details”

These often link to fake PayPal pages designed to harvest credentials.
Some cases even include fake customer support phone numbers — leading to social engineering calls.

⚠️ Major Red Flags to Watch For:

🚩 Strange sender address (not @paypal.com)
🚩 Grammar/spelling mistakes
🚩 Links that don’t go to paypal.com
🚩 Requests for full password or 2FA code
🚩 Page doesn’t load when you manually type paypal.com

Reminder: Real PayPal will NEVER ask for your password or security code via email or SMS.

🛡️ If You Receive a Suspicious Message

✔ Do NOT click any links
✔ Open a browser & type paypal.com yourself
✔ Check your recent activity directly
✔ Enable / reset 2FA & change your password
✔ Remove any suspicious linked cards/banks
✔ Report emails to: [email protected]
✔ Contact your bank if money was moved

🔐 Prevention Steps

✔ Use a unique, strong password
✔ Enable multi-factor authentication
✔ Keep your devices updated
✔ Use official app — avoid random links
✔ Never trust “urgent” calls claiming to be PayPal
✔ Treat every login page as a security check

🧠 Most Common Scam Variants Right Now

Quick #PSA about a #PayPalScam running around.
If you receive an invoice request from paypal that look like the image here, there is 99.99% change a scam. This is likely a legitimate email from paypal, but the invoice is not, they don't expect you to pay, but you to call the phone number in it.

Do not call that number, just delete that email, you could try to report to paypal, but you take the risk on clicking on a potentially bad link, so don't, just delete and ignore.

@Bluedonkey I’ve been getting a lot of those too… probably four or five in a week or two.

The first time, I just logged into my PayPal app directly (no link followed), and there was nothing to see, so that was the end of that. Junk reported! 🥳

Most amusing. Selling a high end Nobis coat. Retails for $1000+tax but have it on FB marketplace for $550. It's new, tags still on it. A steal. Of course, someone is trying to steal it from me. Got a message from this "woman". Oh yeah, "she'll" buy it. Can't come by to look at it as "she" lives in the USA but wants to send it to her friend in Newfoundland. Okay, once in a while I get requests to send to a third party address. "She" wants to pay via Paypal. Okay, can't do normal bank etransfer like we can do in Canada. We agree on $600 for the coat and shipping. I give "her" my email associated with my Paypal.

"She" asks me to first send "her" a funds request. That's a little odd. But sure. I do. "She" then claims yup the funds have been sent. Nothing comes in for an hour. I message her back and say "hey, will send the coat as soon as the funds come into the account. You're probably doing a bank transfer so that could be 2-3 days."

"She" then says "oh check your email spam folder for the fund transfer acknowledgement". Uh huh. Weird because none of my Paypal acknowledgements go to spam. I do check. And it's just red flagged six ways to Sunday by gmail. There are obvious errors in the email and you have to love the look-a-like inlltpay .com domain. Anyway, making this public for people. That scam email is [email protected]

Also noticed a French Canadian did get scammed by the person using the same email:
