More recently, one of the set of house finch photos from my blossom tree, which was in bloom at the time I took these.

All corruption, all the time in Trump world. In any other time in American history, a president stealing super-sensitive documents on his way out of the White House -- almost certainly to profit from them -- would have gone to prison.

Trump appeared to have business motive for keeping classified documents, Jack Smith finds

The special counselโ€™s team found Donald Trump held onto documents so secret only six people could legally review them โ€” and believed his reason for doing so was personal financial gain.

Donald Trump was the straw that broke the back of America. There's no going back. If someone as corrupt, lawless, and unrestrained as Trump can get reelected (legitimately, or even worse, illegitimately), this country is done. Until he is put in prison for the rest of his natural life, this country will not be recover. There will be smarter, and more evil men pick up where he left off, and this country will be done. The illusion of The Rule Of Law only works if it is enforced, and it hasn't been with Trump. And everyone sees it.

I hate the US tax system. Second only to how much their health system sucks, their tax system is designed to make poorer people do all the work while the wealthy dodge their fair share.

There is a better way. One that means no need to file taxes for over 90% of the population. One that puts the responsibility on employers and banks. Large corporations that can be audited more easily (and are less likely to get it wrong since it doesn't benefit them to do so).

OK, something odd is going on... I've had two separate places reach out now asking whether I would be interested in a "Paid Consulting Opportunity in the Physical Security Technology space."

Both via LinkedIn, of course, but what makes them think that somebody with my experience would be a fit for their consulting opportunity?

Trying to work remotely from my daughter's softball practice in Fairfield, but everything is running so slowly (not due to the remote connection - just seems to be slow), and the heat here is putting me to sleep. I'm indoors, but they don't seem to like air conditioning...

Hmmm... I tried Sora and it was decent, though honestly I've had more success with the things I need from the Kling 2.6 model.

Text to video, and image to video tools are great, but what I would really, really like is something that can edit existing video. Not just 10 seconds of it either, but something like a 2 hour video.

This whole thing seems like a way to hide the expense of these tools... The AI tokens are just a tool (or at least the cost of using a tool). I was going to suggest that as such it shouldn't be part of a signing bonus, but then I remembered we went through a phase where companies offered new laptops as a part of signing (another tool they would need to do the job they were being hired for).

Are AI tokens the new signing bonus or just a cost of doing business? | TechCrunch

Maybe tokens really will become the fourth pillar of engineering compensation. But engineers might want to hold the line before embracing this as a straightforward win.
