It is a #paean to several deceased singers such as #JimiHendrix, #JanisJoplin, and #OtisRedding, and has been rewritten a number of times to include other singers. The song was first recorded by the band #Climax in 1973 (co-writer Stevenson was the keyboard player for Climax, and the song was specifically written for the band's lead singer, Sonny Geraci).

In the vault beneath the arboretum, Kane found a woman singing a paean to Kelden The Philosopher. Whether she was a pastor or a mere worshiper, she would fight with a mighty wrath to defend her god; Kane knew he would do the same if someone tried to harvest power from Rithkaleen The Buried, so he hid and waited for the woman to leave. The best way to win a fight was to avoid it altogether, and it would be a shame to miss the end of such a beautiful song.
