Quote of the day, 22 May: St. Joachina de Vedruna
Escorial, March 12, 1824
Dearest and beloved daughter Teresita:
You made me very happy when you wrote to me that you were cheerful. Trust in the good Jesus, in the Virgin, and in the saints, who can do more than all the medicines of men.
My dear daughter, I am very happy because all of you are cheerful. Love your brother and Rosita very much, and God will love you. I am sending you the shawl and the bag you had made for yourself, and two more ribbons; one may be useful for Marieta. I am sending you the little basket that Anita gave you.
Love the good Jesus very much. When I come, I’ll give you a very big hug. Beg heaven to bless you.
Your humble mother,
Joaquina de Mas
Saint Joachina de Vedruna
Letter 12, to her daughter Teresa
Note: Saint Joachina de Vedruna is replying to a letter from her daughter Teresita, who was ill with a serious eye condition. She encourages her to place her trust in God and to love her siblings: the older ones who were caring for her like parents, and the younger sister with whom she was living.
