Today I commence my BNE-MELB #nswtrainlink train journey home. I’ve had an interesting long weekend exploring Brisbane using Beam e-scooter service. Have to admit I was a bit hesitant but took the plunge and so glad I did. Actually had a ball and found the service super flexible and convenient. I used the daily pass system which gives 90 min of travel in the 24 hr period for $14. I ran over one day and incurred the $0.65/min casual rate; I should have taken another day pass 😕. The purple scooters are “everywhere” around central BNE ( and their orange competitors) so I never had to search for one. All worked well and are quite zippy with a max 25kph limit. In geolocked areas speed is auto limited further (10kph in heavy pedestrian precincts) which I actually liked. Occasionally speed was restricted in “inappropriate” areas, but 95% spot on. In “no ride” zones the scooter turns off. I came away feeling what a great system! Highlight was scooting out to a Happy Valley wedding event in my tuxedo 🤣 #activetransport #cycling #scooter #ebike #eScooter #brisbane #publictranspot
