A ★★★★ review of New Nightmare (1994)

Finished off our most recent marathon of the Nightmare series (Freddy vs Jason was viewed with the Friday series beforehand) with Craven's attempt to both try out meta horror, 2 years before Scream would cement the genre, and to also make Freddy a formidable villain once more. When it works, it works like gangbusters. The look of Freddy in this one may be my favorite look of the series and the bone structured hand is iconic. The darker, more evil Freddy, especially coming on the heels of the Looney Tunes Krueger, is a breath of fresh air. Sadly, he doesn't
