Vintage advertisement for The Time Tunnel, featuring James Darren in the natty white jumpsuit he wore in the pilot, posing beside AN/FSQ-7 computer control panels. Those AN/FSQ-7 panels cropped up in many a sci-fi series and movie, but for me they’ll always be the heart of Project Tic-Toc.

The Time Tunnel 1x21 "Idol of Death" review by RikerDonegal

**Anthony Caruso, Lawrence Montaigne, Rodolfo Hoyos Jr.** One of the best episodes. Doug and Tony are frequently split up during their adventures, but not here. Instead, they work as a team for the full episode. And the story is structured as a chase. Another plus. It’s a more violent episode than most, in the sense that there are some sadistic deaths. Cortez has an old couple tortured and executed early on and it’s more graphic than what you might expect for 1967 TV. His savagery is never in doubt. Anthony Caruso is terrific but is written out of the episode after this first quarter or so. It’s a race-against-time story, with Doug and Tony on the run and trying to help a young Indian chief. He’s inexperienced and has no heart for killing, which makes his character much more interesting. This is one of those episodes where the Tunnel Complex has some real drama too. A crook with a gun is loose, and there’s a pitch battle towards the end. Exciting stuff. Indeed, the fights and explosions in the a-story are exciting. Most of the episode is filmed in the studio but it does not detract. The last quarter has several sequences shot on location and they look very good. _Spring 1967: ABC aired The Time Tunnel in the first half of Friday prime time after The Green Hornet and before Rango. Against it were The Wild Wild West and Hogan’s Heroes on CBS and Tarzan and The Man from UNCLE on NBC._ 9/10

Idol of Death

Doug and Tony arrive in a jungle in 1519 Yucatan as Cortez and his Spanish conquistadores attack the locals. The pair rescue natives being tortured for knowledge of a sacred golden mask and intervene. They are captured and believed to be spies. Cortez burns his ships and plans the guys' execution, but one of the locals free them and Doug buys them time to escape by threatening Cortez with explosives. Cortez orders pursuit. Meanwhile, the Project team call up an expert familiar with the terrain, Castillano. The guys use crude explosives to delay the Spaniards while aiding a local chieftain-to-be, while the Project staff discovers Castillano has a reputation for stealing artifacts, but have no choice but to employ him. When the guys get captured Castillano offers the Project staff their location in return for the recovery of the mask. When the Staff recover the mask they inadvertently lock everyone in time, and Castillano grabs a gun to force them to let him keep the mask. A demented Cas

I used to love this show, and the other two shared productions.

As an 8-9 year old, they were more fun than the much more serious in tone, Star Trek, which I also enjoyed.

When the douchebros complain about effects in tv and movies now, I roll my eyes over their ignorance and wish for the bros to disappear.
