Strongly recommend these classes from the #Unyeshiva (the school from the folks behind the #JudaismUnbound podcast).
Also --- I'm trying to decide what class I'm taking! So hard to decide.
Also one of the teachers is part of the #Fediverse @lexaphus

Stumbled across this on YouTube last night whilst going down the nusach rabbit hole. It's made me write out something metaphysical and hopefully motivational.

Very interesting article (in #hebrew) that discusses the argument between Beit Hillel and Beit Shammai regarding when #roshhashanah for the trees is.
It discusses opposing 'weltanschauung' of the two schools, and uses it to explain numerous other arguments between them in the #mishnah. #TuBeShvat
Tu B’shevat, the #Jewish New Year for Trees, begins at sundown, Sunday, Feb 5. How is your community observing it? This is one of 4 different new years noted in the #Mishnah; the day Jewish farmers brought fruit tithes to the Temple in #Jerusalem. This day has been observed with agricultural related customs from the Mishnaic era until today, and has connections to #ecology and caring for our #environment

This is an important and thoughtful discussion. To add a layer to it - note that the early quotes of Jesus himself in the #Gospels are different than how they're understood in the rest of the #NewTestament and #ChurchFathers.
Compare these "Pharisee" teachings (mainstream Rabbinic Judaism in the #Mishnah, #Midrash, and #Talmud) with Jesus's ideas - many are the same.
#Jesus may have been closer to Pharisee than to other groups of Jews at the time.
