Starting on Monday, I'll begin a new adventure at work. I'll be a rotating Program Officer at the National Science Foundation in the Division of Undergraduate Education. I'll still be a professor at CU Denver, but I'm "on loan" to NSF under an Intergovernmental Personnel Agreement.

I'm super excited about the opportunity. It's work that I've always wanted to do. It will involve *a lot* of travel back and forth but fortunately we don't have to move. Next week will be my first of many trips to DC/Alexandria VA.

Newscasters seem amazed that such a small fire can burn so many homes. Homes are often just another fuel type. When you look at the aerial footage, fire often spreads from house to house as much as from vegetation.
