A new species of Spinosaurus, "a heron from hell", Spinosauurs mirabilis, was described in an article published on 19th February 2026 in the scientific journal Science. In de Sahara in #Niger in Afrika hebben wetenschappers fossielen gevonden opgegraven van een tot nu toe onbekend soort #spinosaurus, een grote vleesetende dinosaurus. Deze spinosaurus #mirabilis leefde in het Krijt, 95 miljoen jaar geleden, werd ongeveer 12 meter lang en woog 5 à 7 ton. Mirabilis betekent verbazingwekkend en verwijst naar de grote kam die deze spinosaurus had. De nieuw ontdekte dinosaurussoort jaagde deels in het water op vissen.

Op een dorre plek in de Sahara in Niger hebben wetenschappers fossielen opgegraven van een nieuwe soort Spinosaurus, een van de grootste vleesetende dinosaurussen. ‘Het dier valt op door zijn grote zwaardvormige kam en kaken met in elkaar grijpende tanden’, verduidelijken paleontologen.

Another shot of one of my four o'clock #flowers – it's the exact same #flower I posted yesterday with the rain droplet, just snapped a few hours later and #SOOC.

Did you know why they're called four o'clock flowers? It's because they open shop in the late afternoon and night to attract moths for pollination. In the morning, they close again.

They can also grow different colours on the same plant, but mine are all hot #pink. I didn't plant them, they must have been included in one of the gazillion seed packets I dumped in the garden in the last two years. Now several of them have popped up unexpectedly.
