Where does euchre come from?

It seems like everyone in Michigan knows how to play euchre — or has at least heard of it — but was the card game actually invented here, and what's the history behind it?

The history of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes, especially Lake Michigan, fascinates me! This most recent find is a Civil War era passenger ship.

Last harvest of 2025!

They say to leave parsnips in for awhile after the frosts. We've had a few frosty mornings, so I thought mid-November was a good time to go get them.

A good haul! Much better than I've done in the past. I think my soil-regeneration efforts - cover crops, rotation and compost - are helping!

Now on to blanching and freezing these lovelies.

We were at my parents' and my dad wanted me to check if this rather large spider (approx. 5") he discovered in thier basement was still alive. Not only did it prove to keep with the rule that their lack of blood pressure is why they curl when they die, but that they /also/ arent fans of being blown on.
