Got registration scholarship to Boston Bacterial Meeting 2026, woot!
Will be reporting a pretty exciting (for me at least) observation from Haloarchaea sequencing project I've been running since 2024. Hopefully I can find some collaborators - I've been running into walls.
Also glad that bacterial meeting's accepting archaea related abstracts too!
Help needed: im trying to grow some Wolffia duckweed, and the enclosure i have made for them has been hit by something. It appears in the water as white fuzz, and appears to grow between the duckweed, tying them together. I droppered some of it onto a slide, and put it under the microscope. It came out as this fiber. Is it a cyanobacteria? Is it harming my plants? If it is a group of cyanobacteria, they will go away once the duckweed thoroughly shades the surface.
High-fat #diet causes rapid loss of intestinal group 3 innate lymphoid cells through #microbiota-driven inflammation & mitochondrial stress.
Dietary fats and microbes trigger ILC3 metabolic failure & death, disrupting intestinal homeostasis.

Acute and chronic infections drive distinct trajectories in human memory CD4+ T cell formation.
CD4⁺ T cell fates in #HCV differ by outcome, revealing distinct chronic, cleared, and cured memory paths.

Happy to have made a small contribution for @GB13Faithless's paper. Hope this is just one of many examples in independent researcher collaboration with academic scientists!
#archaea folks, this pipeline rules for global baseline annotation of archaea
#Soil microbial diversity associates with lower prevalence of human bacterial pathogens across global soils.
Global soil metagenomes show human pathogens thrive in wet croplands & rise as biodiversity falls under global change.
