With the beginning of pride month, let's remember that we have pride because Marsha P. Johnson and others refused to comply, be exploited, be jailed and be physically assaulted anymore; it became a riot...a protest... not a parade.

This year for pride, I say "we will never forget".

WE WILL NEVER FORGET

* The companies that turned their backs on us
* The government sponsored genocide of our trans family
* The removal of our rights and freedoms at the whim of a despot
* The promise of "I have your back" was nothing more than political propaganda
* The loss of our beloved community to suicide and addiction bc of the oppression and discrimination
* The trauma of having our freedoms being determined by political rhetoric, movements, and money.

Perhaps this year, instead of saying "Happy Pride!"... we perhaps might instead say "Show your pride!" Meaning engage in resistance versus celebration. We have a lot of work to do.

A Community Performance of "A Mother of A Revolution" - Watertown, Wisconsin

A community performance of "A Mother of A Revolution" LIVE from Imm...

Watertown, Wisconsin, Tuesday night: a school board voted 7-1 to remove Omar Thomas's "A Mother of a Revolution!" — a 2019 instrumental dedicated to Marsha P. Johnson and the Stonewall Uprising — from the May 18 spring concert. Thirty-two students rehearsed for months. Three opted out. The rest kept playing. The Vice President called a piece with no lyrics "indoctrination" capable of inciting "political violence." Students walked out fourth period Wednesday. Choir student Layla Turner: "Music should not be censored because people don't like what one person has to say." Read the full piece:

Celebrating Women’s History Month: Sylvia Rivera

Sylvia Rivera was a tireless advocate for those silenced and disregarded by larger movements. Throughout her life, she fought against the exclusion of transgender people, especially transgender people of color, from the larger movement for gay rights.

Painting 257: Here's a brand new edit of the #marshapjohnson / #statueofliberty mural out in Seattle WA (situated right next to the Bettie Page / Divine). I STILL don't have the perfect picture of it yet but I love this mural. Go check it out in person until I do! #tenyearsoftwothangs

Trump erased trans & queer history from Stonewall. Lawmakers are fighting to get it back

https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://www.advocate.com/news/stonewall-transgender-erasure-democrats-outraged

The video starts with a trans person, Erin, talking about Zohran Mamdani's new political ad for Mayor of New York.

It throws to the ad, which shows Mamdani sitting at a desk in a park, wearing a neat suit. While he's talking a number of old pictures of New York from the 70s and 80s show, along with photos of Sylvia Rivera.

It cuts back to Erin talking about the ad again.
