Breakfasts got tastier when I learned I could make decent steamed egg custard in the microwave.

This is topped with equal parts soy and golden syrup (usually maltose syrup with the real thing), green onion, peanut and a tiny bit of sesame oil.

To make this just combine a cup of stock or dashi/prepared hondashi with two eggs and cover (i use a plate) and cook on 50% power until steamed through. Takes about 6 and a half minutes in my microwave.

The peanut is a new addition for me, I was watching some street food videos in Xi'an and saw a lady making them and adding peanut and shredded carrot on top which looked really good.

This is a treat on a cloudy, rainy morning and took me about 30 seconds to make.

Apologies that I took a couple bites before I took a pic.

I tossed a century egg sliced in halves into my instant ramen and while after cooking it looked unappetizing, it was really delicious. I think when I'm feeling fancy I'm substituting century eggs for the usual soft/hard boiled egg for ramen.

I finally found a bottled jerk marinade I don't hate, which is a big deal for my low spoons. I used to make and can my own, but that's from my before life.

The biggest nod of approval is that my nose is running now.

Grace is good, but nearly impossible to find here, so Auntie Bev's is now my main squeeze. Maybe with a little added fresh ginger when I have the spoons.

Do you have a sauce that you can't do without?

Serendipity is a 50% off wheel of beautiful brie, just in time to be baked with raspberry jam for a Beltane lunch.

Just whacked the top off and smeared some jam, then made a little foil container to bake it at 350F for about 15mins with fan.

Decadent yuletide breakfast in the works.
Spoons: Nearly zero, but it does require you leave your oven on very low for 12 hours. I've seen another version where you filter the cream through a coffee filter in the fridge a bit like labneh.

This reminds me of my grandpa so much, but it would be served with his homemade Irish soda biscuits and jam. Managed to find some gluten free English muffins, so they will have to suffice. I splurged on very lovely local cream, so this was about $5 Canadian, but still pretty budget friendly. Follow hashtag OuchThatsTasty for more low spoons tips and recipes.

Do you have an abundance of post Christmas oranges? Do you have a blender? This is a tried and true, very easy, favourite at our house. A nice dose of vitamin C for the bleak winter, but also tasty in the heat of summer.
