This tree isn’t here anymore. Soon after taking its photo, it was felled because it wasn’t healthy and threatened to damage the property beneath it. #naturePhotography #trees #home #changes #growing #lightdark #shadows #iPhonePhotography

I could’ve written a simple article about the `color-scheme` property. I could’ve written a simple article about the `light-dark()` function.

But nooo.

I had to nerd out and write about nesting color schemes. 🙄

Day 107: the light-dark() color function - Manuel Matuzovic

A quick light-dark() experiment

I wanted to experiment with the new CSS function light-dark() and get a sense of how to use it in a CSS architecture of nested (web) components. I think it’s going to be a powerful tool in the new responsive world of component architecture but I don’t want to recommend something unless I have experience with it in a project first.

A Couple of New CSS Functions I’d Never Heard Of

light-dark() Saw Bramus post about this. :root { color-scheme: light dark; –text-color: light-dark(#333, #ccc); } Apparently, this is just a first step on the way toward a more robust schemed…

Part of the solution to reducing the number of animals used in research could be to switch to using other species, like insects. I've just written a blog about that:

Replacing rodents with insects in behavioral testing | Noldus

In this blog we delve into the use of flies as a new perspective for behavioral testing. How do they compare to rodents? And can conventional rodent tests be adapted to insects?
