Tonight’s #KitchenStories
I made something with kale for the first time maybe ever. It was an easy one-pot minestrone. The kale was perfectly nice, but I did almost destroy the taste of it by garnishing it with too much chilli oil, or too strong chilli oil. In my defence, I was following the recipe (at that point) which said drizzle with chilli oil.
Today’s kitchen story:
• making a quick pasta sauce, as I have suitable veg and an open bottle of passata
• find a small red chilli pepper so chop that up and add it, why not?
• when I go to add the passata, I see there is a half jar of store-bought arrabbiata sauce that should be used before it, so I chuck that in instead, forgetting until it was too late the contents of the arrabbiata recipe
…
Reader, it was hot. I ate it as a kind of punishment for my scatterbrain approach to cooking, which sometimes results in things like this.
