12 -12- 1903 / 12 -12- 1963 ,was a Japanese filmmaker.

I am not up to date with Japanese filming like I am with Korean.
Lacking time, not lack of interest.

But do venture there once in a while .
Two years ago I watched a few 1930 's movies from him .
In these movies he showed his way of filming whole scenes with a steady camera from one point.

I think "Idol I " is very much inspired by him.

In 2025, prior to watching #jMovie Kingdom 4: Return of the Great General (2024), I rewatched Kingdom 3: Flame of Destiny (2023) to remind myself where the story left off.

Other than that, I did not rewatch any #jDrama #cDrama #kDrama in 2025.

Includes a few #kMovie #cMovie #jMovie, from 2011-2024, oldest, kMovie War Of The Arrows (2011) with Park Hae Il, Ryu Seung Ryong, and Moon Chae Won. Notably watched the Admiral Yi Sun-sin trilogy #kmovie(s) of 2014/2015/2023.

Over half way watched and I can see now how the #jMovie Golden Kamuy (2024) led to a #jDrama sequel. The storyline is interesting. Same ML Yamazaki Kento as in the Kingdom (Japanese) movie series and the acclaimed Alice In Borderland dramas.

Kingdom 4: Return Of The Great General (2024, ancient China). It's my favorite now of the four released so far in the movie series (2019, 2022, 2023). Kingdom 5 is due out Summer 2026.

For another current Japanese movie series that's my favorite, highly recommend the four Rurouni Kenshin films (2012, 2014 I & II, 2021; Tokugawa era). I watched it in chronological order instead of the order released (prequel/sequel).

Both movie series are based on very popular mangas.

Glad I rewatched Kingdom 3 before I watch Kingdom 4 today for the first time. Besides K3 ending in a pause during the battle, there were two reveals at the end, which I had forgotten.

Before I start another Japanese movie I need to watch the latest Kingdom 4, Kingdom: Return Of The Great General (2024).

But first, I'm going to rewatch Kingdom 3: Flame Of Destiny (2023), just to see more of my favorite Japanese general, General Ohki, brilliantly acted by Osawa Takao.

The "Kingdom" (Japanese) movies are set in China during the Warring States Period.

After a detour through a #kDrama #TheWinningTry 3 #Chihayafuru #jMovie , and a #kMovie #UntangledLove it's back to #cDrama #SunshineByMySide In a rare twist for me, I'm watching a remake before the original. It will be interesting to see how #twDrama #MyDearBoy compares when I try it after this. The fact that its total runtime is around two hours shorter is already a plus, sight unseen
