End of the Year Drama Challenge Day 17: best actor of 2025

Yoon Kye Sang in the #kdrama #TheWinningTry as the fall-from-grace national rugby hero who got caught in a doping scandal and gets hired as a coach for a ragtag underdog high school rugby team. He was dorky, and silly, and full of heart, and love and pride for his players.

@ricard @Fanua whereas I VERY MUCH preferred Hot Stove League because it was ACTUALLY about baseball, not merely named after the sport, as I strongly feel The Winning Try was. knowing #kDrama any S2 of #TheWinningTry will be exactly like the first season: 80% about corruption and mismanagement in a completely unrelated sport, 15% about that sport and 5% about Rugby.. If we got an S2 in which RUGBY was central in terms of plot and screentime, that would be awesome

@ricard A season 2 would be nice, especially if we get to see more rugby. The ones I've seen mentioned as similar and popular are Racket Boys (badminton) and Hot Stove League (baseball), although I haven't seen either.

🆕 Korean Drama Review

"The Winning Try"

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🏉 This has been promoted to my top 1 Korean Drama. It had all the elements for me to make it very enjoyable: sports, friendship, a little drama, and a little romance...

@JillsJoy I found it disappointing, in part because, as you said, there was precious little rugby in the show. More about shooting, and WAY too much about staff room politicking. Still, I watched it all.
