Yasujirō Ozu
12 -12- 1903 / 12 -12- 1963 ,was a Japanese filmmaker.
I am not up to date with Japanese filming like I am with Korean.
Lacking time, not lack of interest.
But do venture there once in a while .
Two years ago I watched a few 1930 's movies from him .
In these movies he showed his way of filming whole scenes with a steady camera from one point.
I think "Idol I " is very much inspired by him.
Last night's film was Floating Weeds (Japanese: 浮草, Hepburn: Ukigusa) a 1959 Japanese drama directed by Yasujirō Ozu, starring Nakamura Ganjirō II and Machiko Kyō. Considered one of the greatest films ever made, it is a remake of Ozu's own black-and-white silent film A Story of Floating Weeds (1934). - Wikipedia
[Title] AN AUTUMN AFTERNOON
[Author] Yasujirō Ozu
[Year] 1962
[Type] Film | Drama
[My rating] 9⭐ in 10
[Opinion] In his masterful simplicity, Ozu shows us how sometimes even the best of people get lost in selfish desires, and often all we need to be able to shift to a better selfless path is to be humble enough to listen to the people around us, even if it leads to our deepest fears. What an amazing film, the author's last. Worth the time of any artfilm lover.
