Yahoo Finance | A Photronics Director Sold 10,000 Company Shares. Should Investors Avoid the Stock?

A Photronics director, Mitchell G. Tyson, sold 10,000 shares of company stock for a transaction value of approximately $423,100, as disclosed in an SEC Form 4 filing. The sale represented 23.15% of his direct holdings at the time, which is above his recent median transaction size of 10.37% per trade since July 2025. Following the sale, Tyson retains 33,199 shares directly, valued at around $1.36 million based on the April 1, 2026 market close of $40.88 per share. The transaction involved only directly-held common stock, with no indirect holdings or derivative securities.

Photronics manufactures photomask products critical for semiconductor and flat panel display production, serving global customers in high-performance electronics markets. The company reported record revenue in its integrated circuits division for the fiscal first quarter ended February 1, 2026, driving total Q1 sales to $225.1 million—a 6% year-over-year increase. With a 1-year price change of 124.70% and a price-to-earnings ratio of 17, the stock has seen strong performance but may be considered relatively expensive. Despite the insider sale, Tyson’s continued significant ownership suggests confidence in the company’s long-term prospects.

The Motley Fool analysis concludes that the sale is not necessarily a red flag for investors, as it aligns with Tyson’s historical trading pattern and occurred amid stock price appreciation. While Photronics is viewed as a solid investment due to its industry leadership and growth potential from new integrated circuit designs, the Motley Fool Stock Advisor did not include it in its current list of 10 best stocks to buy. Investors are advised to consider waiting for a price pullback before buying, though current shareholders may want to hold the stock given its strong fundamentals and Tyson’s retained stake. The article emphasizes long-term holding over short-term reactions to insider transactions.

Puzzle of the week:

Why does a manufacturer produce a circuit diagram specifying a CD4007 and then draw its connections in such a way as contradicts the published schematic of the chip? Is the datasheet wrong? (Unlikely.) And then, when I draw it as on the datasheet, the connections to the wider circuit don't make much sense. (I don't think MOSFETs work like that.) Going to need to draw what's on the rest of the board now...

@mos_8502 Two photos from my local #HackerSpace

Several nights ago I was working @revspace late and the phone rang and - hesitantly - I answered it. I really don’t speak Dutch.

It was another participant who hailed me by my ‘nym and asked for photos of one of the components drawers. (I don’t know about others, but this space is fiendishly well-organized.)

I took and sent these photos of the 4000 series boxes. #IntegratedCircuits
