Nail Polish Epiphany

Do they really smell of marshmallow Peeps? I nervously sniffed my brightly polished fingernails as I walked to my on-campus video interview, where I would talk about what it was like being a gender non-conforming person at my workplace. My university wanted individuals’ experiences, mine included, to create a webpage full of written and video stories of a group of employees to show how inclusive we were. But back to my nails.

Preparing for a lecture on digital challenges for research/university/higher ed libraries. I have given it for some years, but would like some new additions. Any recommendations?? #digital #digitallibraries #research #knowledgeorganization #digitalhumanities #LIS #IS #informationstudies #ischool #GLAM
I was reading about a PhD in Information Studies program at UCLA. (I recently had an ah-ha moment regarding #InformationStudies) With all my programming classes and interdisciplinary degrees I might stand a chance of getting accepted. But. UCLA is on the complete opposite side of the country. I can't tell you how soul-sucking it is to live in a red state with poor quality universities. It is almost financially impossible for me to move, not to mention leave my family alone.

Overview General web search engines are an essential part of today’s information infrastructure. They have made it possible to find almost anything on the Internet by typing a few keywords into an empty search box. In fact, search engines have become so integrated into devices and practices that you can get an answer before you…
