IMO, America has had too good for too long (since the late 40s). And while it has grown fat on the back of a system that gave it more power than it knew what to do with, more power than any other sovereign nation, the USians have grown complacent, entitled, and enthralled by their power, blind to the work that is required to maintain a thriving and healthy social democracy. America, like all empires had it coming.
