HOPE con still feels in touch with a form of #hacker culture that I want to succeed.
Maybe because it's been around so long it seems...warm? Convivial. The culture seems to attract smart but unpretentious people, from old phreakers to teenagers with exploit chains, to Feds, to academics with research prototypes of one sort or another. Hackers who are thoughtful not just about security but about #privacy.
