I installed the SwitchBot Bot on my kitchen ceiling lights switch. By itself it can run over Bluetooth, but I paired it with the SwitchBot Hub 2 which allows WiFi control.
It really works (so far). It'll be interesting to see how the battery life is; it runs on just a coin battery. 😬
It's Matter compatible (with the hub). I got it into Apple Home that way, but Google and Home Assistant are possible too, apparently.
You know what the problem was with speech recognition triggered actions on a system that scored a 10 on the BYTE UNIX benchmark in 1994? The FUCKING SPEECH RECOGNITION!
Turning reliably-recognized speech into action was fully deterministic and 100% FUCKING RELIABLE! Not this “will it or won’t it” bullshit.
WHY THE FUCK does Siri on a HomePod have to go to the FUCKING INTERNET to turn off a FUCKING LIGHT in the SAME FUCKING HOUSE? That’s rank fucking incompetence and it’s been tolerated—nay, enabled—by a complacent press for way too fucking long. You could do this in the mid-late 1990s on a PowerMac without round-trips.
Review: Govee's New Chromatic String Lights Work With HomeKit and Display Multiple Colors Per Bulb

Silly #homekit automation. I've got an Inovelli #matter light switch with a programmable LED. I've set it to turn red when the front door is unlocked, and back to green when locked.
And it’s already paid off. We've been having some work done and had disabled automatic locking for the workers to be able to enter and leave without hassling with the lock. One day, we forgot to turn it back on when they were done, and I spotted the red light as I was headed to bed. Pretty handy, and it's all HomeKit native (no need for home assitant, etc.).
