Warum ich als Fußgänger inzwischen nur ungern und selten in Mainz bin: Agressive Radfahrer, die Ampeln, "Geh"-Steige und Fußgängerzonen bestenfalls als historische Fußmarke betrachten.

Die Augustinerstraße beispielsweise, im Zentrum der Mainzer Altstadt, ist durchgehend Fußgängerzone. Es gibt sogar zusätzliche Radfahrverbotsschilder (254). Doch Radfahrer, sowohl Lieferanten als auch "ganz normale" Radfahrer, rasen durchaus mal mit 30 km/h zwischen Fußgängern hindurch. Ohne 360-Grad-Blick ist es mir dort zu gefährlich.

Eine grüne Fußgängerampel im Mainz ist für mich ein Warnzeichen, die Straße nur mit vorsichtigen Blicken nach links und rechts zu überqueren.

Als Autofahrer muss ich in Mainz regelmäßig abbremsen, weil eine grüne Autoampel nur eine Empfehlung für mich sein kann, weil Radfahrer trotzdem die Kreuzung queren.

Als Wanderer und Läufer meide ich bestimmte Strecken zu bestimmten Zeiten, weil dann vermehrt regelmäßig rasende Radfahrer von hinten kommend in einstelligen Zentimeterabständen ohne Warnung vorbeirauschen oder mich von vorne kommend vom Weg drängen - oft auch, weil sie zu zweit nur nebeneinander fahren "können".

Viele Radfahrer sind rücksichtsvoll, nehmen Blickkontakt auf, grüßen auch. Nach meinem Empfinden werden es immer weniger.

So this gonna get into a small rant but oh well.

So I had said something among the lines of "Wishing that the history channel actually taught something close to history instead of crackpot theories and should be sued for this kind of behavior" to a couple of family members because I was unhappy with what the history channel was spewing, I don't watch it often but it's suddenly "Hehehhe... aliens did this and that! But you can't do shit because this is all theoretical!!!!!"

They said back "It's all theoretical, and if you get one idiot to believe it, it has ground" or something close to that, Though right I still feel like we need to get rid of this as it's insulting to see the history channel claim feats of humanity were all done by aliens, like yeah bud, I like to think there's possibly alien life out there that we'll meet one day publicly, but holy shit from the Aztecs to the ancient Egyptians, you're really gonna pull the "Aliens did this" card because we can't replicate it nowadays? Give me a fucking break.

I'm pissed as shit and these family members aren't done justice by my enraged state, so take it with a grain of salt

I dislike the concept of technofeudalism.

It's used to describe what is nothing more than another stage of capitalism. We're living through the consequences of the falling rate of profit: capital becomes less profitable, it abandons production and innovation, turning instead towards digital platforms as a new source of rent extraction.

Musk or Bezos do not behave like feudal lords either, far from it. Caring about power more than money has been a trait of the bourgeoisie for centuries, it's how it came to exist (using their money to buy shares of the nobility's power).

The only return to the past I see these days is in international relations, where mercantilism seems to be back. Colonial wars are fought over resources, gunboat diplomacy is used as a negotiation tool, tariffs and blockades are disrupting free trade, still not feudalism though.

Marx wrote of all those things in Das Kapital over a century ago. This new word/concept is wrong in essence, it distracts from the overall critique of capitalism which needs to be accurate in order to topple it. We are not subjects of lordships, we are wage laborers, which is our weakness but also the source of our strength through collective bargaining power.

Same issue with the usage of "the Epstein class". It does point towards the existence of class warfare, but portrays the dominant class as "rich people who abuse others" instead of tying it to rent seeking and extraction of labor from the working class. We have a word for that, it's called the bourgeoisie.

Deep down it doesn't really matter since it at least gets people talking about topics they usually are afraid to discuss, I merely choose to not use them myself. But I do die a bit inside when they are used unironically by writers and journalists.
