I am currently on book 7, of a 10 book bundle, of Alexander Kent novels. I've also just bought 6 Patrick O'Brian books. I asked perplexity.ai to compare & contrast. Seems like O'Brian might be a struggle.

Thomas B's review of Last Call at the Nightingale (Nightingale Mysteries #1)

3/5: Pretty good! Typical whodunit set in the Prohibition era. Lots of jazz, glasses tinking, and flatter's dancing in speakeasies. The actual mystery is sufficient; I didn't think it was mind-blowing, but it keeps the reader engaged. I enjoyed the portions of the book showing textile working conditions and the living conditions of Vivian and her sister, as well as the exploration of race and gender in this time period (though that exploration is a little sparse). I'd recommend the book to fans of the genre.
