Massive lava fountains return to Halemaumau crater | Honolulu Star-Advertiser
> Kilauea volcano reawakened in spectacular fashion Friday night with massive lava fountains returning to Halemaumau crater.
Been streaming this live since I first got up this morning (about six hours now) and the core of the fountain has clearly moved "forward" toward the camera, although it's still hidden behind the crater wall
Main outflow stream has also moved "foward" toward the camera and is *very* vigorous -- to the point you can actually see the darker, cooled surface of the stream actually "sloshing" like a thick gravy just above the incandescent, fluid stream
Unfortunately (as it's Christmas, I'd guess) the camera is clearly unstaffed and is running on auto
UPDATE: there is one zoom-in at about 08:38 local time (see the timestamp, upper left)
Love to see a zoom out and a pan off to the left to get a sense of what the wider scope of all this is
But this sucker has really lit off, just in time for Christmas
Need an "infinite fireplace" display for Christmas today? Here's the PERFECT ONE.
