We've just posted "Forged in FreeCAD (and OpenSCAD!): OpenBrushoGraph.
This excellent and affordable hardware project allows you to build a painting machine that can plot with brushes and multiple paint colours! It's a great #opensource project that uses lots of open source in it.. #inkscape #openscad #ugs #grbl #fluidnc etc. #CNC

Forged in FreeCAD (and OpenSCAD): OpenBrushoGraph

Pen plotters are cool and there are plenty of open designs to choose from. What if we want to experiment beyond pens? Well then perhaps brushes and paint are fun to play with! The openBrushograph i…

Forged in #FreeCAD: XYZ Micro Manipulator for Sub Micron Motion Control
It's a wonderful thing when you see a very cool #opensource hardware project and then a further delight when you see that the toolchain to build the device is also completely open.

OK, so we've got a pretty robust #OSHW ecosystem around producing #3D printers...

And there's lots of #grbl pen plotters and such...

But is there anybody working on open source paper printers? I guess I'm not terribly concerned about what technology a given example implements (i.e. direct impact, laser/toner, inkjet, thermal, whatever) but I'm mostly curious whether the space for this is just so saturated for so long with commodity printers that nobody's exploring this. I'm not even certain what problem might be solved by such a thing.

I guess on some level, the printed page is likely to *always* be the most-robust medium for #archives of knowledge and information, and also one of the most accessible, generally. Being able to produce printed pages from digital sources is so important that I guess I'm skeeved out that this seems to be mostly limited to appliances produced without the same benefits we see in OSHW.

I'm wondering whether it's possible to have a device running #linuxcnc which can take an extra input which is continuously added to say the X axis to cause a variable offset in the X position?

Imagine a device which repeatedly traces a pattern on a moving conveyor belt. This is the sort of thing usually done with a PLC but there seems no reason why LinuxCNC couldn't do it.

I wonder though whether #grbl might be a better option?

Anyone understand what I'm trying to ask and have any ideas?

Still very #prototype but my carbon filament winder project (soon to be seen in @themagpi magazine) is up and running (on/hanging off a very messy desk!) All made in the mighty #FreeCAD and currently running on #GRBL #opensource #CNC

I have a Vevor 3018 #CNC which works great. However, the #GRBL based controller (STM32G030) firmware and source code is nowhere to be found. Nor are there any schematics that I can discover. SadPanda.gif
Been reviving my CNC. Was dormant since the driving PC had packed up and I didn't have a real use of it, but now, I do! 1KW spindle. It IS a bit scary, and I have a few tool bits flying around the room at some point, need to re-learn it... #cnc #linux #arduino #grbl
