Nowhere in the #us makes it to the top ten and only #istanbul and #paris elsewhere in #europe do so. The other seven cities comprise #antalya , #bangkok , #dubai , #hongkong , #kualalumpur . #macau and #mecca .

There is also a timing issue - pointed out in the #ftweekend . It is at least plausible that #uk share prices will decline sharply in the near future as the #AI bubble bursts. It would make far more sense to encourage #nationalsavings and even bring back the ability to purchase #gilts over a #postoffice counter. However nobody will be lobbying for any of that!

I have read an interesting and troubling report in today's #ftweekend magazine. It relates to the business model of #BritanniaHotels - a group to which many of the hotels currently housing #asylumseekers in the #uk belong. It has grown by acquiring hotels which been among the grandest in towns such as #blackpool and #scarborough and indeed a city like #liverpool and rendering them profitable by skimping on maintenance.

Quite apart from the ethics of such activity it may not be entirely safe for the individual consultants to be engaged in this. After all an expert in the logistics of railway transportation of deportees and expellees found himself in court twenty years later and ended up at the end of a rope!
