My first monorail

Very occasionally, YouTube manages to recommend something I’m actually interested in. In this case it’s a look back at the monorail at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the very first monorail I ever went on. Or saw, for that matter.

I have fond memories of going on this in the 1970s. When my family went to Blackpool, our trip would always include a visit to the Pleasure Beach and a ride on the monorail. It was my favourite ride there (no-one is surprised), and clearly had a lasting impact on me.

I often wonder if I ever saw the Rhyl monorail – we used to go there a lot too. I might have to get my mum to dig out the old photo albums next time I go to watch Manchester City Women see her. I definitely went on the one inside the Sun Centre.
