this model isn’t up to the standards of a case design i would recommend anyone to use, but i recently ran into a situation where it was worth digging up since it worked. it’s a case for a #raspberrypi4b mounted to the back of a #freenove fnk0078 7” touchscreen.

i hate this space version of #monopoly a bit less than the classical one, but still it's a chore… i'd rather continue playing with that #freenove electronics kit and #python while there's still some free time left on sunday… kids, must you torture us parents like that?

днями за підказки товариша я придбав електронний «конструктор» #freenove ultimate starter kit for #raspberrypi. тут буде журнал розваг із цим набором. вже є:

- підготовка (налаштування «малинки»);
- огляд трьох найпростіших схем/програм, простий діодний індикатор % cpu.

спершу було цікаво розібратися з електронною частиною, а зараз більше пригадую #python — чудовий варіант для початківця, нмсд.

#freenove ultimate starter kit for #raspberrypi — time to dust off my old model B rev 2… and hope the family doesn't notice i'm not there this weekend: daddy's hiding in the basement…

Starting to assemble a #robot kit I got myself and the kids for christmas. Daughter has done most of the screwing with her more nimble fingers than mine (damn some of these screws are small!) while my task has been to read the instructions and find the right parts. Most of the body done, soon the servos, legs and head, and finally setting up the #RaspberryPi - going to be awesome!

I've wanted a robot kit for us for a long time since the kids are pretty interested in #tech stuff. After a lot of comparing, I ended up choosing a #Freenove robot dog kit with Raspberry Pi as the computer unit. Most of the robot kits are cars or tanks, which are rather uninteresting in terms of objects. A dog on the other hand is something with much more personality. Another important thing was that it's all #opensource, the example code projects are #Python, it has both drag'n'drop #programming interfaces available but also pure code libraries (and of course being a Raspberry Pi it can run anything, anyway), is easy to expand later and one of the most important points, needs assembling, because that is a large part of the fun. The body parts are something that could be easily 3D printed where replacements or modifications are needed and the board offers enough expansion needs for our nearby future. It also works on rechargable easy to replace batteries.

Of course, all this is before actually getting it assembled and turned on 😅 But so far the kit feels pretty good with quality feeling parts and excellent instructions, and the kids are very excited to have our own pet in the house :)

We've got all kinds of ideas on what to do with it once we've checked out the example code. Adding some kind of loudspeaker component is probably going to be one of the first expansions we'll need, because we love espeak 😅 One of the first things I'll do is write a #Matrix bot that will run on it so we can give it commands through there. My daughter was having an evil grin while planning on all the kinds of things she will make it suddenly shout while I'm home alone with it 😬

Hopefully a good investment for the price of a low-mid range mobile phone, will post updates :)
