Didn't get my latest
#sewing project finished because half way through I got sick of my old cheap sewing machine having hissy fits and vapours all the time. So on the off chance I looked on gumtree and found a lovely Bernina going cheap because the speed control didn't work. Pro tip: if you find any old variable speed electric motor-based appliances that don't work because of a fault with the speed control, the fix will almost always be a dried up capacitor. Even at Jaycar's ridiculously inflated prices this is going to be a fifty cent part. And with older, well made appliances it's usually made to be accessible for repair or servicing.
That's how I own a few of my
#BuyItForLife appliances, like my Kenwood Chef, Sunbeam Mixmaster and now Bernina 1010, all of which combined cost less than $AU200.
#FixThingsSo after a walk to Jaycar and a bit of soldering it's as good as new. My mum has a much older Bernina, and I've always wanted one, so I'm super happy. attachment.
