PieFed, a link aggregator platform for the fediverse, has made some interesting updates recently. It is one of the first (if not the first) platform to add support for Passkeys to the platform. It has also added flair (community-specific tags) to posts, that are federated as well. PieFed has also made a image hashing service available that can be used by any fediverse platform.
The branch of fediverse software that consists of Friendica, Hubzilla and more, is now 15 years old. The main developer Mike Macgirvin lists the large number of features that the platforms have, including groups, nomadic identity, comment controls, and much more. When it comes to the large variety of features, no fediverse platform comes anywhere close to what this branch of platforms offer
The United States has signed the Take It Down Act into law, which criminalises the distribution of nonconsensual intimate images, and requires social media platforms to remove them when notified within 48 hours. IFTAS has written a guide with more information, focused on fediverse server administrators. IFTAS notes that “even small, volunteer-run instances will be expected to comply if they are based in or hosted in the US, host US user accounts, or federate content that reaches US audiences.”
Fireside Fedi is an attempt to learn more about folks within the Fediverse.

Ciekawa opinia @LaurensHof z @fediversereport na temat zamykanego projektu pilotażowego serwerów fedi UE (wcześniej przedłużonego o rok), zakończonego sukcesem:
"Z mojego osobistego odczytania tej sytuacji wynika, że jest to konieczne i bolesne przejście, a fakt, że Komisja Europejska pozostanie aktywna i zwiększy swoje wysiłki, to dobra wiadomość. UE jest, delikatnie mówiąc, niezwykle zróżnicowaną i złożoną organizacją i wątpię, czy posiadanie jednej instytucji w ramach organizacji UE, która jest odpowiedzialna za całą obecność UE w różnych obszarach, sprawdzi się. Nie jest dla mnie zaskoczeniem, że #EIOD nie mógł znaleźć w UE grupy lub organizacji, która byłaby skłonna wziąć na siebie odpowiedzialność. Propozycja przejęcia EU Voice na własność jest w zasadzie następująca: „jeśli wszystko pójdzie dobrze, będziesz właścicielem i odpowiedzialnym za obecność społeczną dużej liczby unijnych polityków i organizacji”. To rzeczywiście brzmi jak przerażająca ilość odpowiedzialności, którą należy wziąć na siebie, zwłaszcza że nie jest jasne, co to oznacza w praktyce. Bardziej logicznym rozwiązaniem wydaje mi się posiadanie wielu różnych serwerów Fediverse UE, na których każda organizacja UE staje się odpowiedzialna za swoją obecność. Wydaje się, że w tym kierunku zmierza również sprawozdanie Komisji Europejskiej."
Więc pewnie będzie wiele serwerów wielu organizacji z UE, a nie jeden centralny "dla wszystkich".
