I thought this business about Jim Carrey possibly having a doppelganger required a response from someone who thinks a lot about the #Science of #FaceRecognition. Enjoy! https://youtube.com/shorts/PpPU_YzRFeA?feature=share
Does Jim Carrey have a Doppelgänger, or is #FaceRecognition just harder than it seems? #science

As a company director in the UK who needs to submit our accounts.. I now need to verify my identity to do anything tax related. (correction - need it to submit our confirmation statement due in August .. but not yet to submit any accounts) They want photo ID like passport or driving license but also to take a photo via app. Site claims you can input info without the app eg driving license details and link it to credit check to confirm identity - but that doesn't work which seems deliberate. Can confirm ID in person at post office but you have to get a letter which will take ages and they still take a photo and scan your ID. So all smacks of AI shite and #Palantir type data harvesting dodginess - any thoughts masto folks #IDVerification #UKGov #CompaniesHouse #HMRC #DataSecurity #AgeVerification #FaceRecognition

So modern machine learning models can easily distinguish between human faces and sort them according to their owners. Google does that, and I have immich running so I can even do it at home.

But you know whose faces they can't distinguish?
Cat faces.

I feel like that would be a feature people would use.
