A corporation scans your face, adds you to a criminal database, shares it with dozens of retailers, and when it's wrong, you get £25 voucher and silence from the ICO.

I wonder whether wearing an #FFP2 #respirator inside the store makes a false accusation more or less likely.

Not like there's any lack of reasons, but yeah.

As usual, sex workers are among the first to be harmed by bad policies or dubious tools.

And as long as the stigma stays, they'll sadly remain major targets for abusing those…

Tested on a really large photo collection, and the results are quite good. Like with KD-tree, there are some catch-all clusters, but most of the clusters are very precisely matching only one person. Over 90 % precision with epsilon 0.3 (vs. KD-tree's ~40 % on 100k's of photos when it starts applying the search limit).

A proper UX will need multi-clustering (multiple clusters fitting the same person), but I believe that the guys from the DigiKam team will ace it :)

High Court rules Met Police scanning millions of faces on London's streets is perfectly legal and not at all the beginning of something we'll deeply regret.

The Court Has Spoken, The Cameras Are Staying

On 21 April 2026, the High Court of England and Wales handed down a judgment that will either reassure you or terrify you, depending on how you feel about cameras that can identify your face in a crowd before you've had your morning coffee. The Metropolitan Police's Live Facial Recognition

It's a gripping scene in Dead Reckoning with Tom Cruise.

Agents chase down a suspect they see on airport face detection. But when they grab the guy by the shoulder and turn him around, they find out he's someone entirely different.

Has real life caught up with the movies? Can face recognition systems be hacked like this? A researcher decides to find out. Here's what happened.

Can face detection be hacked like in the movies? — AMPYX CYBER

In the movies, people evading law enforcement can hack into facial detection systems and put their face onto someone else. That's what actor Tom Cruise and his team did in the movie Dead Reckoning. But can we do this same kind of hack in real life? A researcher tries his hand at it with fascinating
