Really lovely to spend time with volunteers from Save Bon Accord Baths yesterday, learning about their exciting plans for re-opening the Baths. Thanks to Jack, Lisa, & Alison for the tour!

Doors Open Day never disappoints. Kicked things off with a tour of the Royal Observatory (big star-looky-thingy in pic). Was so astonished by seeing the inside of the #MOONS instrument and its 1000 steerable optical fibres that I forgot to take a picture of it.
Next was the Central Library tour, and it confirmed my belief that all stacks smell the same!
It's #DoorsOpenDay 2024 this Saturday, 27th September. If you've never been before, #LeithTheatre is well worth a visit. Been lucky enough to see several great bands play there in the past including Idlewild, Jesus & Mary Chain and Teenage Fanclub. Genuinely hope the trustees can restore it to its former glory - as a venue it's as good as Glasgow Barrowland imho.
Just turn up, or join one of the tours.

We also made time in our #DoorsOpenDay exploring to treat ourselves to Mary's Milk Bar for some of the bestest ice-cream in town! I opted for dark chocolate and a scoop of cardamom cream with mango, enjoyed on the steps of the Vennel, with views of Edinburgh Castle.

A thousand years ago, or so it feels, I stood below this very dome in my tailcoat, silk waistcoat, bow-tie, & cape for my graduation ceremony. The lovingly restored murals on the ceiling depict the various arts and sciences of learning.
