If you see overflowing litter bins, please report them directly to SDC.

In this modern world action only ever seems to happen when a data exception report is triggered. i.e. Many people reporting something will more often than not trigger a response! :)

Less well understood, is that this data is then analyzed over time and ultimately emptying schedules will get adjusted too. :)

Carmarthenshire woman faces near £4,000 bill after failing to clear garden of dog poo

Ms Kelly Williams, of Gorsddu Terrace, Penygroes, near Cross Hands was not in attendance of a hearing at Llanelli Magistrates Court on Friday, 21 February 2025, but provided a guilty plea in advance of the hearing brought by Carmarthenshire Council.

The magistrates sentenced Ms Williams to pay a fine of £215, legal costs of £3470.50 and a victim surcharge of £86.

Speaking after the prosecution, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for enforcement, Cllr Aled Vaughan Owen said: “I would like to thank our Environmental Health Team for bringing about this prosecution.

“Even within their own gardens, dog owners must dispose of their pet’s poo responsibly, as in addition to the unpleasant smell and the mess created, there is a potential health risk associated with dog faeces.”

The poo problem
Unburied waste left by bushwalkers and swimmers causes a range of pollution problems.

National park rangers "find faeces near rivers, lakes, streams, and campsites and even next to toilets...We go along and pick those [poos] up and take them back to a toilet."

It is "expensive to install toilets in remote areas and fly the waste back to civilisation. It's about $3,000 an hour to pay for a helicopter to remove peoples' poo."
Rangers actively promote the poo pot.

A guy's dog pooed in the middle of the footpath in the city this morning.
As he walked off, I called out to him an politely told him he had to pick it up.
He looked at it, scrunched up his face assessing it, then said "it's small... but okay."
Wtf? Pretty sure picking up after your dog isn't like catching fish. You don't throw it back if it's underweight.
