Years ago (pre-cloud) I used to self host at home, but as the cloud grew there became little point in this d-i-y approach. But as you say, now the cloud has become such a bad place, the d-i-y approach is back in fashion again !

I now self-host at home (again) :



I'm now looking for a docs solution, probably onlyoffice.

I've not come across yonohost before, so I'll follow with interest further parts of your series.

@train if you really want to #selfhost #email then I'd recommend @stalwartlabs nowadays instead of #mailcow, #dockermailserver, #mailu etc.

Jus so it's clear #dockermailserver is awesome and the devs are too - they are helping me solve this and are replying quickly and are really trying to solve this. I'm not shitting on any project, they working great and I love both #asciinema and #dockermailserver

#selfhosting is a great way to learn new things and have control of your data.

But it's a time consuming thing that never ends. You have to keep things up to date because of security updates and some new problems will always find a new to bug you.

Like now I wanted to use #asciinema but my #dockermailserver doesn't let the login email get received. #rspamd fails rDNS and bam - email outright rejected as spam.

It's probably an issue with my config, not DMS but still: bugs will always find u

Thinking of writing an article on setting up Traefik and/or an email server (I've done all of this on an Raspberry Pi 3).

I'd like to write a beginner guide on both as I've had trouble finding them.
