(Having the ability to write text directly on the canvas is great, I've been waiting for this a long time, I found it quite annoying with my auto-tiling setup that a separate text window popped next to the main window, and I couldn't see the full canvas.)

(I recently downloaded Calibre to read an ebook for a university assignment, I really like its customizability, that I can set text width, number of columns, panels to show, etc. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's bundled with a full-blown ebook manager and ebook editor, while all I need is just a simple ebook reader, idk why it has to pull all that extra stuff if I download the reader (at least on Debian))

Krita 5.3.0 Released!

Today is the simultaneous release of Krita 5.3.0 and Krita 6.0.0! Depending which version of Qt and KDE Frameworks you build, the same source will result in one of the other. Both versions are almost functionally identical, with 6.0.0 having more Wayland functionality.

Super useful!

I had not looked much into #Calibre since seeing the whole AI thing, in fact I've been actively ignoring and definitely not updating it. Maybe I'll look more into now.

Though some of the alternatives are nice too.

@rl_dane was bothered by #calibre's new AI features, I poked for a bit and found out you can hide most of it. Out of sight, out of mind.

This is a short #tutorial just in case you want to do the same.

How to turn off Calibre AI features

I was not particularly bothered by these, but a friend was so I poked around and figured out how to hide all the AI stuff from Calibre.

koboutilies not found as a calibre plugin

Apparently to manage a Kobo Clara e-reader from Calibre, the plugin koboutilities is required. My standard Calibre on Ubuntu 24.04 is not showing such a plug in available.

Several years ago, I started creating an archival library "time capsule" from RSS feeds with #Calibre. Each feed is converted into an ebooks. I have amassed over 250K ebooks from RSS feeds from news feeds, various blogs, etc. and it is an ongoing process and project.

Although I read my favorite sources daily, I haven't come close to reading the vast majority of them but I feel it is my duty to do this for some reason, esp the news.

I wonder what the legality of hosting them on the internet somewhere is. They come from public RSS feeds.
