Remember the term ”diagonalist” from Naomi Klein?
My thesis is that it’s not really the populist right’s diagonalism that’s a problem. The problem is ALL mainstream left parties are now diagonalists.
Diagonalism is defined as using the talking points of the other side of politics while doing the other. That’s exactly what ”social democrats” are doing all over Europe.
There’s only conservative politics to choose from in the mainstream.
That’s pretty damning; Here are some excerpts of the leaders from the community worst hit by floods from a few years ago.
They rejected ”Biden’s money” which was supposed to go into a flood warning system and funneled most of it into law enforcement instead.
They called also the money ”communist” and coming from a ”tyrannical government” 🤔
