Kia ora, Pixelfed.

It's great to be here. I've been on Mastodon for a bit and this is the next step in moving away from Meta.

I've lived and worked around the world and the internet has enabled me to stay in touch with friends at home and abroad. In recent years though social media has been less about staying in touch with people and enabling human connection and more about manufacturing outrage to sell more consumer products.

Time to move on to platforms that have connection and communication at their core. Platforms that serve us, not oligarchs.

A bit about me: I'm based in Tāmaki Makaurau / #auckland, #newzealand. My day job is as a software engineer in a start up (which also means its my night job, and my weekend job at the moment).

Interested in #degrowth #regenerativeagriculture #decolinization #politics (especially #nzpol / #nzpolitics)

With software I'm interested in #decentralization and #federation. Keen on exploring more #selfhosting but lack the time to do more of it at the moment.

Into #surfing #rockclimbing #bouldering

Let us not overlook the utility and synergies that go along with #reparations and #decolinization. Addressing that will inevitably help with #ClimateAction and #climateJustice. It very well may result in a more benevolent way of life that we can hardly imagine.
