Which is also the logic of what #darzi has said about the #nhs ! It also means that the 'Green Book' needs to be revised - as it would need to be anyway.

@GeofCox @ChrisMayLA6

This is - I suspect - a lot closer to what #darzi might prescribe than what would be recommended by a #newlabour relic like #alanmilburn - under whose stewardship the private sector premium reached its peak of 60% to 70% !

On an initial view, the #Darzi review of the #NHS is good. For example, "Nothing that I have found draws into question the principles of a health service that is taxpayer funded, free at the point of use, and based on need not ability to pay".

The recommendations are general and sound but don't tackle the funding shortfall in capital and revenue. However the diagnosis does point in that direction.

The problem with most of what #darzi proposes is that it is eminently sensible but profoundly unexciting - and offers little opportunity for #grift . #publichealth and #preventative measures work well but do not attract support from influential people - unlike #digitisation which tis seen as a 'magic bullet' and has been so for at least a quarter of a century ! The temptation will be to throw effort and money into #digitisation and pay lip service at best to the other stuff.
