The outcome of my first quail gene crossing trial. I'm experimenting with using rotkopf as a base and have crossed fawn, falbfee, and roux genes into their population. Here are the first chicks, finally starting to color out!
roux is sex-linked recessive so won't show up until F2, the expression of fawn will also change in F2 as they currently only have one copy of the genes expressed. Will be interesting to see the end result :)
Got a bit tired of the baby chicks flying out of their box and rigging a poopy minefield in the fishroom every morning, so built them a box with some leftover material. Turned out pretty neat, all considering π

My second order of #coturnix eggs just arrived π hopefully hatch rate will be better this time. Shame some 8 eggs were cracked tho.
