These ropes are solving a big problem that’s been created in forests!
Can you guess what it is?
See, when roads are built through forests and trees are cut down, it takes away the ability for animals to travel across the forest canopy, especially slow moving animals like sloths.
This means they have to come down and travel across the ground, where they could be hit by a car, or attacked by predators.
So Osa Conservation in Costa Rica have been creating a bunch of Arboreal Bridges since 2020, to help protect the amazing wildlife near the Osa Peninsula, giving them a safe way to cross these gaps.
They’ve been working on the best ways to help animals cross, like making stronger crossings using old fishing nets or plastic mesh, and adding more ropes so monkeys can hold them with their tail for extra support as they cross (how cute is that!)
After just two months, they spotted three species of monkeys crossing the bridge, along with Porcupines, Opossums, and even a sloth!
